An Exciting Announcement!

June 9, 2023

Dear CPC Family,

The Rev. Dr. Courtney McLaughlin has been called as our Interim Assistant Pastor!

We are so happy to announce that the Rev. Dr. Courtney McLaughlin has been called by the Session to become our Interim Assistant Pastor! Courtney is a native Californian, and she and her husband, Jim, are thrilled to be coming to Carmel Pres.

Here is something Courtney has written to introduce herself to the Carmel Pres Church family:

Greetings, CPC!

I am so excited to join your delightful family of faith on July 1st!

I have spent the last 25 years in ministry including serving at First Presbyterian Church Berkeley, University Presbyterian Church Seattle, and most recently with Marin Covenant Church. As a second-career pastor, God's call to ministry came as I earned my MDiv and then Doctor of Ministry, both at Fuller Seminary. A native-Californian raised in the Presbyterian church, I'm delighted to be coming home to my denominational roots.

I'm an avid biker, hiker, and sunshine girl. My favorite sounds are the sounds of a party, which may be due to my Italian heritage (my middle name is Vendetta). I love hearing people's stories and helping them discover God at work in the midst of their life journey. My husband Jim and I have four young adult children who bring us immense joy and can't wait to visit us in Carmel!

I look forward to knowing you, serving you, and loving God with you at CPC.

My warmest,

Courtney

We welcome Courtney and look forward to her joining our staff! She will have general duties as an assistant pastor but will also have specific responsibility to support our ministries with older adults, missions, adult discipleship, the work of the Deacons, hospitality and outreach, and covenant partner mobilization. Let’s be in prayer for the newest member of our staff family, and let’s thank God for His generous provision!

In His Joy,

Peter Barnes

Transitional Pastor

Carmel Presbyterian Church
