REV. TIM YEE

Senior Pastor

Rev. Tim Yee became the Senior Pastor at Carmel Presbyterian Church in September of 2019.

 

After growing up in Santa Barbara and attending Trinity Baptist Church, he had a life-changing encounter with Christ at Hume Lake Christian Camp at the age of 16 that planted the seeds for his commitment to full time ministry and service with the Church.

 

He was the College and Young Adult Director and later the contemporary Worship Director at Bel Air Presbyterian Church before being recruited to join the staff of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach in 2002. Tim was Senior Pastor of Union Church in Los Angeles, a downtown church planting and renewal project, where he served from 2011 to 2019.

 

As a student at UCLA, Tim earned a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics and a master’s degree in education. After teaching public high school, he entered full-time ministry, completing a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary where he is finishing up his Doctor of Ministry (’20).

 

He was one of the first pastors in the nation to be certified as a TruMotivate coach, helping people make connections between their careers and their God-given motivations.

 

Tim lives in Monterey with his wife, Kati, and daughters, Avery and Gracen.

REV. DOROTHY BENTLEY

Associate Pastor to the Second Half of Life

Rev. Dorothy Bentley has been an Associate Pastor for Senior Ministries at CPC since 2014.

 

Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Dorothy attended Canadian Bible College (CBC) receiving a Bachelor of Religious Education. 

 

Her ministry experience began after college with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Mexico and then four years on administrative staff at CBC. She served with her husband when he was a youth pastor and U.S. Army Chaplain. She was Associate Pastor at Living Hope Church in Monterey for 12 years. 

Dorothy currently resides in Seaside. She has two grown sons, David and Tommy and four grandchildren.

REV. LUKE BARNES

Associate Pastor to the First Half of Life

Since moving to the Monterey Peninsula in October 2016, Luke Barnes has hit the ground running in his new journey as CPC's First Half of Life Pastor.  That means he gets the privilege of serving families, singles, students, men, women, and children!  

 

Originally from Long Island, NY, Luke spent most of this early years living with his family in Virginia Beach, VA. Later, Luke received his B.A. in Religion and B.B.A in Marketing from The College of William and Mary. He then went on to receive his Masters in Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary.

His previous ministry experience includes serving as the high school director at a Willow Creek Association Church in Virginia Beach and as an Assistant Pastor at an ECO church in Florida.

Luke lives in Carmel, CA with his wife Lalia, their two sons (Judah - 1, Silas - 3), and their Toy Aussie, Barnsy.

AMANDA DE LA VEGA TOVAR

Minister to Students

Since joining the staff in September 2014, Amanda has been an integral part of CPC's student ministry staff. In role as Minister to Students, Amanda oversees CPC's Middle School group while also working closely with the CPC's High School group.

 

A native of Monterey, Amanda attended Stevenson high school and graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a B.A. in Christian Ministry.

Ever since childhood, Amanda has called CPC home. Even while away pursuing her college degree, she would frequent CPC services and events during her time back visiting the peninsula. After being involved at CPC as a student, Amanda went on to pursue a degree in ministry and worked with Young Life as a volunteer and Student Staff member. She points to her experience working with Young Life as the time where her passion and love for ministry with students flourished.

Amanda currently resides in Monterey, CA.

ABBY WARBURG

Minister of Worship

Abby Warburg has served as CPC's Minister of Worship since March 2012.

 

Originally from Merrimack, New Hampshire, Abby received her Bachelor of Arts in Collaborative Piano and Church Music from Messiah College. Since she has joined the CPC staff, Abby has transformed the choir into one of the much loved traditions at CPC.

Abby's past ministry experience really started with her serving in AmeriCorps of two years post college. She also points to the path that led her to CPC as a pivotal time of her personal faith journey in trusting God's plan take shape and ultimately fulfilled.

Abby lives in Marina, CA with her husband Josh, and two kids, Nathan and Emma.

KRIS DIAZ

Children's Ministry Director

Kris joined CPC's staff in 2018 and currently serves as the Children's Ministry Director.

Her heart is full when she thinks about all of the amazing things God is doing with the kids and the team here at CPC. Kris considers her opportunity to be a mom as greatest accomplishment on earth and thanks God everyday for the little family He has blessed her with. 

 

Kris is married to Manny and has two children (Elizabeth, 3 & Nathan, 2).

BOB SPENCER

Church Administrator

Bob Spencer has been part of the staff at CPC since 2006, first serving as Co-Director of Student Ministries for more than 10 years. In 2017 he moved into his current role as Church Administrator where he oversees the areas of operations, facilities, human resources and finance.

 

Originally from Menlo Park, CA, Bob attended Pacific Lutheran University where he received his B.A. in History before working in a variety of jobs including outdoor retail, investing and real estate. Having benefited from many influential and encouraging church leaders during his teenage years, Bob was especially grateful for the opportunity to minister to students at CPC for many years. Now, sharing his gift of administration is a new and exciting way to serve our church family.

MARILYN BRANSFORD

Administrative Assistant

Since joining the staff in 2016, Marilyn has been working in an administrative capacity assisting our ministries and congregation here at CPC.

 

Marilyn spent most of her career in science, primarily working at laboratories in chemistry and physics.

 

She moved to Carmel 20 years ago where she raised her two children, Ben and Anna. CPC has been her church home for over 8 years.
