LENT

What is Lent?

Lent is the 40 days (not including Sundays) from Ash Wednesday to the Saturday before Easter. Lent is often described as a time of preparation and an opportunity to go deeper with God. This means that it’s a time for personal reflection that prepares people’s hearts and minds for Good Friday and Easter. The three main things people focus on during Lent are prayer, fasting (abstaining from something to reduce distractions and focus more on God) and giving, or charity.

During Lent 2021 at CPC, you can participate in the following ways (details below):

  • Ash Wednesday Service (February 17 - 12:15PM)

  • Lent Project (launches February 21)

  • Lent Study (starts February 24 - 6:30PM)

  • Palm Sunday Services (March 28 - 9:30 & 11:00AM)

  • Good Friday Service (April 2 - 7:00PM)

LENT PROJECT

In January of this year Young Life (YL) Monterey opened a Homework House for students to gather. This house is a center for students to connect with each other, with leaders, get homework done, and have fun! In a year of being isolated, YL's Homework House hopes to be a place where students can feel less alone. It's used as both a place to study and where YL plans to host their weekly "clubs" where kids hear the good news about Jesus.

When you send your tithe to CPC, we are able to continue supporting our missionaries, like YL, and blessing them with extra gifts as needs arise. Thank you for giving faithfully to the mission of CPC, and thank you for considering to go above and beyond this Lenten season by partnering with YL's Homework House.

Our project this year is to resource this Homework House with extra goods. There are 3 main ways to engage:

**Drop off donations inside the Friendship Hall Kitchen located off the church parking lot. If possible, please drop off during office hours so food doesn't stay out overnight (Office Hours: M-F 9A-4P).

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE

February 17th at 12:15PM

Replay the full service HERE or Pastor Tim's message only HERE.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. You may have noticed people with a smudged, black cross on their foreheads. Those are ashes from the Ash Wednesday service. The ashes symbolize our grief for the things we’ve done wrong and the resulting division of imperfect people from a perfect God.
